A super-easy hand care routine for smooth, well-cared-for hands

A super-easy hand care routine for smooth, well-cared-for hands

If there’s something we’ve all had to up our game on over the last year, it’s handwashing.

I’ve always been one to look after my hands, but all this repeated washing has led to them becoming drier and more sensitive.  Perhaps you can relate to this?

It’s made me focus even more on my hand care routine, dig a bit into the science behind it all, road test a fair amount of product, and ultimately establish a hand care routine which keeps my hands smooth and well-cared-for even with the increased washing and sanitising.  Sounds good right?

So fingers at the ready, here’s a super-easy hand care routine for smooth, well-cared-for hands…

How to have a complete life declutter

How to Have a Complete Life Declutter

I spent a lot of last month decluttering my life: physically and emotionally.  I’ll be honest, it took work but my goodness, it was worth it.

My cupboards and drawers were the first to take the decluttering hit.  Within 3-days of full-on work, I had cleared & reorganised 3 storage cupboards, 9 drawers, my entire kitchen & two storage trunks ( just for good measure).

The funny thing was, although I did feel tired afterwards, I actually really enjoyed the process. To say I loved the end result, would be a big understatement.  I was so proud.  Sad though it may seem, I would stand and stare at my completed handiwork for a long time – the good feelings just kept on coming.

This encouraged (and freed) me to work on the emotional, rather cluttered-looking cupboard, that is my brain.  Certainly, a far easier task when the environment surrounding me felt calmer.  I’ll explain how I went about it in a moment, but I’m positive all the clarity I gained will help me to live happier.

Now, I know the thought of a declutter can induce panic, and who has the time, right?  However, if you invest the time needed and do it in a way that works for you, your well-being will be paid dividends.

Here are just some of the benefits you could realise when you declutter your life…

25 Quote to Give Hope

25 Quotes to Give Hope And Reassurance

Regardless of the circumstances we find ourselves in, hope is always there for us to reach for. Being hopeful cultivates an optimistic state of mind; we begin to believe good things will happen to us, if not right now, then eventually.

Recently, amid all the news and twists and turns of life, I’ve found myself searching for quotes to offer hope. Just a few wise words that reassure, encourage & carry me forward. The power of words filled with hope should not be underestimated; they can help even in (perhaps, especially) the toughest of times.

I hope you like this personally collated collection of 25 quotes about hope. As always, I haven’t provided commentary or explanation on each, as I truly believe the meanings can be interpreted in a multitude of ways. If it resonates with you, listen to the personal message it’s trying to give.

If you find these hope quotes helpful, I also have collections of motivational and inspirational quotes!

How to make activities more mindful

How to make activities more mindful (and why you’ll feel happier for it)

We are busy people and daily life is demanding.  It’s no wonder we can become overwhelmed, anxious and burnt-out.   Which is why wellness professionals and well-being advocates, such as myself, have been encouraging mindfulness as an antidote to combat life’s stresses.

What is mindfulness?

“Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us”

Mindful.org

Essentially it’s about allowing yourself to exist in the moment, to not ruminate about the past or worry about what’s to come.

I’ve written a full guide to mindfulness, which you can access here.

Commonly there are two ways to practice mindfulness, one through meditation and the other through undertaking multiple mindful moments throughout each day.

What is a mindful moment?

This is the great part!  You can make any moment in your day mindful, it’s all about the way you approach it.  Whether it’s something mundane such as washing your hands or a longer activity such as mindful colouring, you can use it as an easy opportunity to be mindful (present in the moment) and reap heaps of well-being benefits.

Why will doing activities mindfully increase your well-being and make you feel happier?

Where to get started with skincare: a no-nonsense guide to looking after your skin

How to get started with skincare: a no-nonsense guide to looking after your skin

I’ve been interested in skincare for as long as I can remember.  My time working as a beauty department manager for Boots was definitely a career highlight.  And so it would be fair to say when it comes to skincare, I’m a mega-fan; always eager to grow my knowledge and trial anything new!

However, I appreciate this isn’t the case for everyone.  I understand that for some, skincare is quite daunting.  You can walk up and down the beauty department aisles and realise there’s a lot to figure out.  That’s before we factor in how interested you are in using skincare products in the first place.

[Which, regardless of your level of interest in skincare, there is one thing we all SHOULD do skincare-wise every day – I’ll share what that is in a moment.]

After discussing this with a friend, we started to feel there’s information overload for anyone new to building a skincare routine.  Start searching online, and quite often your requested ‘basic skincare routine’ is at least 7 steps, includes ingredients you haven’t heard of since GCSE science, and requires a significant investment of both time & finances.

Figuring out where to get started with skincare can seem overwhelming

It really doesn’t need to be this way.

So, I want to take you back to the very basics.  To understand, in a simple, no-nonsense way, where to start with skincare.
