However, neuroscience tells a more complicated story.
Myth 1: You Can Reset Your Dopamine Levels
This is perhaps the biggest misconception.
Your brain is constantly producing and using dopamine because it is essential for survival. You cannot simply “flush out,” remove or reset your dopamine by avoiding enjoyable activities for a day or two.
Instead, what often changes is your behaviour.
Reducing constant digital stimulation can help break habitual patterns, making it easier to focus on tasks that previously felt less rewarding.
In other words, you’re changing your habits – not resetting your brain chemistry.
Myth 2: Dopamine Is Bad for You
