Have you ever read the ingredients list on a beauty product and been left completely baffled? It seems certain products require a science degree to decipher; I regret not having one of those!

And with thousands upon thousands of beauty brands out there, who has the time to analyse how good their products are for you? Honestly, finding quality, clean beauty products can be overwhelming.

I just want to know that the product is free of any hidden nasties and is healthy to use on my skin. Surely that’s not too much to ask? Elth doesn’t think it is.

Who is Elth?

Elth is an online store standing against greenwashing and bringing transparency to beauty. Their platform connects you with carefully curated partner brands and serves up their finest products for you.

What makes Elth unique?

Elth’s exclusive partnership with INCI Beauty – one of the most trusted references for transparency in the European beauty space – enables them to rate products based on the quality of ingredients.

With their unique technology, Elth can give a simple rating to each product, making it easier to understand if a product is good for you.

Good to Know: Elth’s partner brands include some of the best up-and-coming UK indie brands that follow ethical processes.

OK, so this all sounded great, and you can bet I was loading Elth into my internet browser quicker than I can read an ingredients list but is shopping with Elth really as easy and empowering as they claim?

It was time for an Elth review (Yes, that pun was intended).

Discovering how Elth works

From the first click, it’s apparent what Elth is trying to help you do: gain confidence in the quality and cleanliness of the cosmetic products you choose. It’s easy to find answers to how Elth works and what it takes to be listed on their platform. Put it this way, Elth put their partner brands through their paces, for sure.

Shopping on Elth

You can search by brand, product type, price and, uniquely, their highest-rated products (I recommend doing this). Each brand provides a helpful introduction allowing you to understand them more and feel out whether they’re the brand for you.

Each product includes a description highlighting the key points, detailing how to use it, and the complete ingredient list. Most importantly is the little green box displayed with each product rating it out of 20. As you can imagine, all products on the Elth site have verified ratings that range from Good to Excellent: you’re not going to find anything less than a green-rated product here.

Elth Reviews

The site is still growing, so product reviews are slightly thin on the ground, nevertheless, I felt reassured with the rating system in place.

Elth is an easy-to-navigate site; checkout is simple too, although it would be great if they could add some additional payment options such as Klarna; perhaps this will come as they continue to grow.

My Star Product Picks

Five Dot Botanics products only contain five ingredients, each chosen for its high quality and being plant-based. Their Pure Rewind mineral-rich face mask helps smooth your skin and draw out impurities.

For the last few weeks, I’ve been applying a thin layer to dry, cleansed skin for 10 minutes twice weekly. Increasingly I’ve found myself reaching for the Pure Rewind face mask after a night out or a day of commuting across London in full makeup. It gives me a sense that it’s deeply purifying my skin, helping to prevent – or clear up – any lifestyle-caused blemishes and bringing back some balance to my skin tone.

Good to know: The Pure Rewind Restorative Face Mask is fragrance-free (other than a calming hint of lavender) and is suitable for all skin types.

The Wild Curl, approved by PETA, produces hair products suitable for all women’s textured hair types. They want women to feel more confident and beautiful with their natural hair, and as someone who often doesn’t feel this way, I was happy to join them on their mission.

Their charm hair oil combines carrier and essential oils to help promote hair growth. The ingredients stimulate the hair follicles increasing circulation and contributing to a far healthier scalp, which, I might add, are the conditions in which your hair loves to grow.

I applied the oil around three times a week at bedtime, generously dispersing and massaging into my scalp. I loved the peppermint and Rosemary scent the oils gave off. You can leave it on for 30 minutes before washing it off; however, I left mine on overnight.

Charm is a good hair oil, but you must be patient to see results; hair growth takes time. In the meantime, you can benefit from a healthier scalp and therapeutic scents!

Keeping your beauty regimen in good Elth (sorry, I couldn’t help myself, again)

I’m so happy I found Elth; they take the stress out of selecting skincare products. It’s evident that product quality comes first for them and, in my opinion, that’s exactly how it should be.
