My October Skincare News & Reviews:
Introducing New Natural Skincare Brand – Rose & Skin
Fresh from Bulgaria’s Rose Valley, Rose & Skin celebrates beautiful pure, organically grown ingredients. Their skincare range allows you to get back to skincare basics easily and even empowers you to create your own natural skincare concoctions, such as a botanical clay mask (you can check out their recipes here).
In short, I have really enjoyed using products from the Rose & Skin range. Their deeply hydrating camomile & pomegranate cleansing oil is seriously the most moisturising cleanser I have ever used. And their organic Bulgarian Rose Water is so light, refreshing and perfect for toning (or gently cleansing) my skin beautifully. I can see Rose & Skin becoming a permanent fixture within my skincare routine.
Did you know? The powerful antioxidants and antibacterial properties found in rose water can help reduce pores’ appearance, lock in moisture, protect cells from damage, and soothe problem-prone skin!
I’m still to try their purifying clay mask & botanical facial steam, but I promise to update you on these next month.

#Just One Switch
This month I took part in Counter Culture Store’s Just One Switch campaign. Counter Culture Store is a new beauty marketplace on a mission to make it easier for us to discover and shop for sustainable and ethical beauty products.
The campaign invites us to swap at least one conventional beauty item we’re currently using to a more sustainable version.
I’ve already made strides towards sustainability in my skincare products but haven’t extended this to my makeup yet. So for my switch, I chose a Honeypie Minerals Foundation, Blush & Powder Brush.
How did I get on? I was sceptical about the power foundation; with my combination skin, I was concerned it would catch on the drier parts of my face, but it didn’t. It did take a little while to gain the coverage I would get from my regular foundation, and it didn’t help that the brush I selected was too soft. Simply switching to firmer bristles made it much easier & faster. And don’t panic, the brush I changed to was still an eco-friendly one!
However, the softer brush worked wonders with the blusher. The blush contains a good amount of pigment, so a little went a long way and stayed put for hours. I’m much happier to continue making switches in other areas of my makeup bag now and plan to do a complete brush overhaul by Christmas.
Why make the switch? The makeup I selected was not only better for the environment, but it was also free from all hidden nasties. It’s lightweight enough to allow your skin to breathe and contains Zinc Oxide, a natural protector against everyday UV-light exposure. At under £14 for a foundation, it’s an absolute bargain (my current foundation is £30). When finished, you can purchase zero-waste eco-friendly refills. Result!

ARK Detoxifying Clay Masque
New on the ARK Skincare roster is their Skin Perfector Detoxifying Clay Masque, and may I say, what a treat in a jar it is!
They say: A mineral-rich masque that absorbs excess oils draws out impurities, loosens and lifts away pollution particles, and conditions, resulting in clean, soft, clear and balanced skin.
And I agree entirely with what ‘they say’. I love the fact it comes with a mini… let’s call it a spatula? Anyway, it means you can scoop out the masque without contaminating the jar, keeping everything fresh and clean.
Just 10 minutes on dry skin before rinsing off is all it takes to help give my skin a weekly reset. The results definitely make it 10 minutes well spent.
Recommended for: All skin types and ages and those looking to inject a skin-health boosting, simple skincare step into their weekly routine.
