This October we are focusing on self-acceptance

October Well-being Focus: Self-Acceptance

Crack out the pumpkins, it’s October – Time for a new well-being focus! Perhaps apt for what many agree is the spookiest month of the year, we’re focusing on an area of our well-being people often find the scariest. Having started the work to increase our self-awareness, we now need to take that understanding of ourselves, of our strengths & weaknesses, and learn to accept them…warts and all.

Yes, this October we’re focusing on Self-Acceptance.

This is such a big and important area of our well-being, I’ll be covering it more fully in an upcoming post this month.  But for now, let’s just say learning to fully accept ourselves is one of the most empowering & freeing things we can do. To know all there is to know about who we are as a person and choose to love that person unconditionally anyway is a truly wonderful thing. But like anything life-changing, it’s a journey.  If you’ve had a lifetime of negativity being thrown at you by others or by yourself to yourself, acceptance won’t necessarily happen overnight.  It’s difficult to suddenly say, this is me & I’m OK with it – even though, we all absolutely should be saying it about ourselves.

I hope you’ll join me on this self-acceptance path this month. Be sure to enter your email in the Stay Happy box below & you won’t miss out on any of it!

To get you started, here are the featured posts for October:

Are you kind to yourself? The importance of kindness

An important step towards self-acceptance is the ability to act with kindness & compassion towards yourself.

Being you: The importance of being true to yourself

The best version of you is the truest version of you. It’s time to be you.

Only Human: Why it’s OK to have an off-day

Learning to let go and loosen up a little on the expectations you hold of yourself

Time to get involved!

How self-accepting are you?  Have you embraced all aspects of yourself fully or (like I used to be) do your struggle to say even one nice thing about yourself? Is learning to accept yourself something you would like to do? Or do you feel self-acceptance leads to complacency? Do you have any tips, techniques or tools (including Apps) that you’d like to share?  I’d love to hear them!  Accepting ourselves is often a difficult task, so anything you’ve tried that works, I’m sure will help others. If you’re a blogger and have a post relating to self-acceptance let me know – I’d love to share it with the Living.Pretty.Happy community. In the meantime, get in touch via the comments box below, I always love to hear from you!

Thanks Charlotte – hope you like them x

  1. I find journaling really helpful in the process of self-acceptance, though it’s certainly a work in progress. All the positive and self-care vibes from the bloggers I follow really help too! It’s a pretty powerful community and a lovely place to be sometimes. I look forward to seeing your upcoming posts, I love reading about these topics!

I hear you on the work-in-progress, It’s challenging, but also rewarding. Yes, it’s good to see an increase in these messages in the community, it often helps to reduce the self-care guilt many feel. Thanks so much for reading & I hope you enjoy what’s coming up x
