July well-being focus: Optimism

Can you believe we’re over half-way through 2019 now?  Yes, we’ve reached July.   A new month and a new well-being focus for Living.Pretty.Happy.

For July we are focusing on optimism.

Optimism, or glass-half-full thinking, is a way of looking at our world with hopeful anticipation and confidence that all will be O.K.

A healthy dose (and I stress a healthy dose) of optimism enables you to approach life with a sense of possibility.  It helps build resilience in the face of stress and can positively affect both our mental and physical health.

We just need to be mindful that optimistic thinking is best used in conjunction with a balanced amount of realism.  Research has shown this is the best way to achieve our goals. [Source credit: Psychology Today]

It’s also something that my guest contributor, Kate from All the Trinkets will be sharing her own thoughts on this month.

For me personally, optimism centres on changing my thought process from what could go wrong to what could go right.

  1. I like you idea, I try to stay positive as much as possible because it is very healthy. I have a post about 3 steps to comfort place, would that be what your looking for? Great post, thanx!!

    1. Sounds good Ashlee! Let me have the link – either email me or put on my FB post and I’ll take a look x

  2. I love the idea of seeing the glass as refillable. It’s the exact type of positivity through a more realistic lens that I prefer. Looking forward to all the posts you’ll publish this month! ūüôā

  3. I am definitely an optimist and just read it also somewhere else to think of the glass as being refillable – which I loved. I am one of those people that believes if you are optimistic, you can make it contagious to everyone around you‚̧ԳŹ

    1. It’s a great sentiment isn’t it?! I loved it when I came across it too. I agree with you, it helps others to see hope when despair may be temporarily blocking their vision. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! x
