The starting point…
The Secret (Rhonda Byrne)
*
A simple and easy introduction into the principles of positive thinking in its most basic form. The Secret is great for anyone wanting to learn about the Law of Attraction and how to actively practise it. Whilst a few of the messages may feel a step too far-fetched for some – The Secret is amazing for making you realise you hold a great deal of power within yourself in order to change your circumstances. I talk more about this book and the beneficial impact it has had on my life within my article: The power of positivity – How thinking positively changed my life.

The spiritual one…
The Universe has your back: How to feel safe and trust your life no matter what (Gabrielle Bernstein)
*
‘My commitment with this book is to wake up as many people as possible to their connection to faith and joy. In that connection, we can be guided to our true purpose: to be love and spread love. These words can no longer be cute buzz phrases that we merely post on social media. Rather, these words must be our mission. The happiness, safety and security we long for lies in our commitment to love.’ Gabrielle Bernstein
Definitely one for the more spiritual amongst us but NY Times best-selling author Gabby Berstein’s book certainly helps to make you feel connected and comforted by the understanding that the world can work for you rather than against you. The universe has your back contains meditation practices to help strengthen your connection, raise your positive energy levels and direct you towards a more peaceful existence.

You are a badass: How to stop doubting your greatness and start living an awesome life (Jen Sincero)

I just love this book! Jen Sincero delivers self-help advice in a hilariously funny yet exceptionally honest way. Simple to understand and highly motivating, Sincero helps you to realise that positive thinking also requires positive action. Think of her as a tough best-friend who wants all the best for you, but will also pull you up on your cr*p. If you want a positivity book that is very relatable, non-preachy and wet your pants funny – this one is a no-brainer.

The Magic (Rhonda Byrne)
*
As I mentioned in How to be more positive, one effective way to increase your positivity is to practice gratitude daily. Well in steps The Magic to make you intensively practice it for the next 28 days. I’ll say it now, it’s quite a commitment but through continued practice and a bit of time investment – you’ll be making gratitude a staple of everyday. It works on the premise the more grateful you are, the more you’ll have to be grateful for. If nothing else you can walk away feeling clearer, more abundant and appreciative – The magic is a real eye-opener on how much you really do have to be grateful for!
