Desert Rose Hydration Mist or Desert Rose Moisture Retention Complex Hydration Mist (to give it its full title) is the latest launch from the brilliant London-based natural skincare brand, By Sarah.
As soon as the launch announcement hit my inbox, I knew I had to try it. But, more than anything, I believed it was what my skincare routine was currently missing.
I needed something light, balancing, hydrating & refreshing, all of which By Sarah’s Desert Rose Hydration Mist claimed to be. And thankfully, it hasn’t disappointed me.
Here’s all you need to know about By Sarah Desert Rose Hydration Mist:
Essentially, it’s a light spray mist containing proven, plant-powered ingredients which add moisture and refresh your skin. Specifically, the formulation works to replenish your skin’s microbiome while strengthening its barrier function.
It also aims to soothe inflammation with no stinging or irritation, making it suitable for all skin types, including eczema-prone.
The Key Ingredients:
The star of the show has to be the headline ingredient: Desert Rose Moisture Retention Complex. Its moisturising benefits work in two ways; as a humectant drawing in moisturise and as an emollient, locking in the moisture and preventing it from escaping. This makes it more powerful than Hyaluronic Acid (and we all know what a wonder ingredient that has proven to be!)
Good to Know: Scientific studies found Desert Rose Moisture Retention Complex to increase moisture levels by 71% after 24-hours and 95% after three weeks.
Aloe Leaf Extract is rich in amino acids, antioxidants, enzymes and vitamins and is excellent for retaining skin moisture. Vitamin C abundant, Natural Kiwi Fruit Water helps with firming and fine lines. And the Muscat Grape Water deeply nourishes with essential nutrients.
One of my favourite things about By Sarah is the high-quality natural and clearly labelled ingredients; you never have to decipher a long list of chemicals, giving me complete confidence in the goodness and efficacy of what I’m placing on my skin.
How I use By Sarah Desert Rose Hydration Mist
Post-cleansing, I lightly spritz the hydration mist over my face (with my eyes closed) before applying my serum and my (also highly recommended), By Sarah Organic Facial Oil.
As a minimum, I use the mist twice a day, morning and evening. However, it’s helpful at other times during my day too. For example, I find a post-shower spritz helps to alleviate any skin-tightness. It’s also good at calming my skin down once I’ve finished exercising. Additionally, it’s been a nice pick-me-up when I’ve hit a mid-afternoon lull and my makeup-covered skin could do with a refresh because, yes, this mist works well over makeup too!
Top tip: Place the mist in the fridge for an extra cooling and refreshing boost!
Is it right for you?
This hydration mist is suitable for all skin types, yes it’s good for sensitive skin, but it also won’t over moisturise oily skin either. I have normal to combination skin, in case you’re wondering. It’s also appropriate for any age range as the plant-based ingredients offer a broad spectrum of skincare benefits.
However, when they called it a ‘mist’, they weren’t lying. If you want to saturate your face in product (akin to applying toner with a cotton pad), this isn’t going to be right for you.
As you can expect with By Sarah Skincare, it’s natural, cruelty-free and vegan-friendly, with no hidden nasties. I highly recommend their Desert Rose Hydration Mist and look forward to making even more use of it during the summer months!
